I’ve been busting my brain all week trying to find a new topic to write about and then I was shocked to realise I’ve never written about how to get your eyebrows perfect! This is my favourite thing to do out of all beauty treatments, might seem silly to be the ’favourite’ but I love my eyebrows and I know most people out there wouldn’t want to live without them either (imagine yourself without eyebrows… pretty scary huh?)
The reason why this is major is (1) Because keeping your eyebrows groomed is as important as the hair on your head, (2) Ever since I learnt in college how to properly shape eyebrows I’m completly addicted, I find myself staring at peoples eyebrows thinking how I could make them pefect and (3) Who doesn’t want good eyebrows? (even the gents! dont be shy!) It compliments your face completly, so be prepared for me to bombard you with helpful information!
Today’s topic being eyebrows I’m going to tell you what the "Dictionary of Eyebrows" says – what shape YOU should have according to YOUR face shape.
Round Face Shape:
A lot of people believe that if you have a round face shape you should have round eyebrows – wrong! wrong! wrong! The best shape for a round face shape is a high arched brow where the peak is towards the end of the brow and the tail is quite short.
Oval Face Shape:
Having an oval face shape is a great thing too have because apparently by the books, it says you can suit any eyebrow shape you want. This doesn’t feel right to say with confidence… it’s like having shampoo and conditioner in the same bottle (how is it possible?) So I put it to the test and seeing as I have an oval face shape I tried pushing my (already high arched) eyebrows down to see if I suited straight eyebrows, nup! I could pull it off but I prefer my arches. So then I tried pushing them high up so they look round… really really did not suit that. So in conclusion my oval face shape friends, this one is up to you! What ever shape you choose it’s up to you just make sure you like it and it compliments your face.
Heart Face Shape:
This face shape always suits a soft, rounded brow. With such soft features you don’t really want to sharpen them up with high arched, defined eyebrows. Embrace the softness your face carries! And compliment them with clean round eyebrows. Make sure the head of the brow (the bit that sits right above the nose) its thicker than the tail (the bit closer to the ears), this is sometimes hard to get as eyebrows are difficult to grow in the right places but this will avoid them being too thin and un-complimenting your lovely face shape.
Square Face Shape:
When I see a square face shape, I see strong jawlines! Beautiful! Now unlike the "Round-Face-Round-Eyebrow" theory, this time you can have a brow that can match your strong features to balance them out. I like to think that if you have thick eyebrows try and soften them up just a tad by making the arch not so "point-to-point", but if you have thin eyebrows then you want to take advantage of what you have by making them strongly arched.
(pic coming soon)
"How do we find the arch?" I will explain this very shortly.
Long Face Shape:
A long face shape looks fantastic with a straight, flat brow. The face shape itself is long and by having an arched brow this will make it look even longer, so to avoid having a longer face, flat eyebrows are the way to go!
Last but not least, Diamond Face Shape:
With this face shape the section that the eyebrows lye on is the widest part of the face, so this suits more of a narrow brow shape (not as thin as a pencil line ofcourse!) but if the brow is a tad thinner from end to end, that will avoid making the face look bigger than what it is. Theres 2 options you could try and thats either round shape eyebrows or a peaked eyebrow. Completly your choice!
Would you like to know a beauty therapist’s secret to finding the arch in you brow? Well I’m going to tell you anyways! 3 simple steps…
1.Grab a pen/pencil/brow beater/something small and straight, and line up one end from the side of your nostril straight up to the eyebrow – that is the point where your eyebrow is going to start (any hairs in between those brows get rid of them!)
2. Keep the pencil on the side of your nostril and angle the tip to the outer corner of your eye and that is where your eyebrow will end.
3. Now to find that arch! Move the end of the pencil to the very tip of your nose and angle it to go across your pupil, where ever the pencil meets the brow from that angle is where you arch is going to be.

See you at the Salon!!
Here are a couple of helpful tips for first timers to waxing.
- Please be showered and clean before coming into the salon
- Don't shave 2 weeks prior to your wax.
- Use a loofah or exfoliating glove after to help reduce ingrowns after your wax treatment
- Hair should be 1cm - 2cm in length to get maximum results.
Just a side note, if it is your first time or you haven't waxed in a while, there is no need to clipper or trim the hairs. We'll work out if it needs trimming or not. This way there is no risk of you nicking yourself or cutting the hair too short.
If you have an other questions, please don't hesitate to contact us.
